How to choose the right chair socks for your floor

Silent Socks Original® consist of an outer cap with 95% felted wool and a stabilizing, ball-shaped rubber support on the inside. They are suitable for smooth floors without noticeable unevenness, such as linoleum, plastic floors or sealed parquet.

Silent Socks HD® have the same properties as the original model, but are specially developed for uneven floors such as tiles, stone or textured laminate. They are made of a synthetic material with a low wool content that is particularly resistant to heavy wear.

They reduce noise by up to 18 dB, resulting in a noticeable improvement in the indoor climate. Available in different colors and sizes, they adapt to different furniture legs and floor coverings.

What should I bear in mind when fitting and maintaining the chair glides?

Installation: The furniture glides for chairs can be attached to chairs and tables easily and without tools. Even the original caps do not need to be removed before fitting. Regardless of whether the tubular steel legs have plastic caps on the inside or outside, the chair socks are always securely in place thanks to the support on the inside.

Care: If the furniture glides get dusty – use a vacuum cleaner or wash them. To do this, remove the rubber balls on the inside and wash the socks on the wool program at 30-40 °C and then put them in the tumble dryer.

When are chair socks not suitable?

The use of these chair glides is not recommended for oiled floors or floors that have been treated with WearMax™, as this surface treatment significantly shortens the service life of the chair leg caps.

These furniture coasters are not suitable for chair legs with “triangular” or “spherical” ends. Due to the spherical shape, there is only minimal contact with the floor, which means that a small point is exposed to extremely high loads. This considerably shortens the service life of the product.

What is the lifespan of a sock?

Silent Socks® were tested for their durability by repeatedly pushing a chair with a load of 50 kg back and forth 40 cm. Even after 40,000 cycles, the chair socks remained intact.

Another factor is the floor covering and chairs should be raised when mopping, as felt is an extremely absorbent material.
